On the "Lin-Manuel Miranda" internship: A Cover Letter for A Shot

Dear Mr. Lin-Manuel Miranda,

I am writing this to letter to inquire for a role as your intern or your mentee. I have noticed that there isn't any kind of Lin-Manuel Miranda internship available online. I think this is in large part because you are very busy with other projects that it must have gone unnoticed, but I think that in many ways you need a right hand (wo)man, someone who could help assist you in your numerous ventures and projects. I think my enthusiasm, my extensive writing and experience makes me a perfect candidate for the first ever Lin-Manuel Miranda internship.

I have applied for several places of employment since graduating in June, but I am afraid that I am not satisfied. I have never been satisfied. It did not come to my attention that something was lacking until I put pen to paper and realized what it was that I needed to move forward with my career. Let me introduce myself, I am Amor Yates and there are a million things I haven't done yet. I have a lot of brains, but I lack polish. I have been diligently writing; it has been the only thing I have ever cared about pursuing since I was a kid. My writing has taken me as far as New Zealand, where I worked as a writer for a tech website. I know how to make palaces out of paragraphs, I can build cathedrals with my words. In my years since pursuing work as a writer, I have written for numerous publications online as well as writing for my own blog. Like Hamilton, I was stirred by my experiences to write extensively, producing nearly eighty five pages of content within two months. I have written about love, politics and travel. I write fiercely. I write like I am running out of time.

I know you are a busy man. You have several upcoming projects that will likely take up most of your day, but I think that I have a lot to learn and offer as a writer. I only want to convey that I do not want to lose my shot, I have every intention of putting myself out there and working endlessly to make the work good and useful to the world, like you have. I want to tell my story, which brings me to writing you this cover letter in the hopes that I can work and learn from you one day in person. I hope you say yes to this, Mr. Lin-Manuel Miranda. In any case, I will write tirelessly. Just you wait.

Writing for my shot,

Amor Yates
